Elders
We are Elder-Led!
A plurality of elders is the church leadership model found in Scriptures and provides the saints with sound guidance from biblically-qualified men. All of our elders meet the qualifications for this office as laid out in 1 Timothy 3 & Titus 1.
What are the responsibilities of our Elders?
The word ‘elder’ speaks of spiritual maturity and refers to the same office as ‘Bishop (Overseer) and Pastor (Shepherd). So, the primary responsibilities of an elder is to spiritually shepherd (1 Timothy 3:5) and oversee the flock (Acts 20:28). These involve a number of specific duties. As spiritual overseers of the flock, elders are to determine church policy (Acts 15:22); ordain others (1 Timothy 4:4); and rule. As Shepherds they are to teach, and preach (1 Timothy 5:17; cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:12; 1 Timothy 3:2); exhort and refute (Titus 1:9); setting an example for all (1 Peter 5:1-3). Cornerstone elders meet regularly to pray and provide spiritual oversight on matters concerning the church.
